BACHELOR IN EDUCATION (B.Ed.)
The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)
programme aims at developing the
understanding and competencies
required by practising teachers for
effective teaching-learning process at
the secondary stage.This programme
prepares prospective teachers to
understand the psychological and
sociological aspects of the child's
development and also understand his
behaviour under different conditions.
The course work combined with rigorous
practice of teaching prepares teacher
trainees to master the art of teaching
and the ability to deal with students
based on their individual differences
in various classroom situations.
OBJECTIEVES OF B.Ed GENERAL PROGRAMME
* To enable students to
understand the central concepts, tools
of inquiry and structures of the
disciplines of Education in general
and teacher education in particular.
* To provide opportunities to
teacher trainees that enable learning
experiences to make subject matter
meaningful at secondary level.
* To make the student teachers
understand how children learn and
develop, how they differ in their
approaches to learning and create
learning opportunities that benefit
diverse learners and learning contexts
* To develop the skills of student
teachers to plan learning experiences
in and outside the classroom that are
based on learners' existing
proficiency, interests, experiences
and knowledge, and enable them to
understand how students come to view,
develop, learn and make sense of
subject matter contained in the
curriculum.
* To develop the capacity among
student teachers to use knowledge of
effective verbal, non-verbal and media
communication techniques to foster
active enquiry, collaboration and
supportive interaction in the
classroom.
* To enable the student teachers to
understand and use formal and informal
assessment strategies to evaluate and
ensure the continuous intellectual
social, emotional and physical
development of the learners.
* To provide student teachers
self-identity as a 'teacher' through
school based learning experiences and
reflective practices that continually
evaluate the effects of their choices
and actions.
* To change the behaviour, attitude
and values of teacher trainees so that
they shape into responsible and
accountable agents of change in the
society, in the perspective of local,
national and global concerns and
issues vital for human survival,
progress and development.
* To provide a rich programme of
curricular and extra-curricular
activities for student teachers for
all round development of their
personalities as also those of the
students whom they teach.
LIBRARY
FACILITY
The
college library is well stocked and
has a reading room attached with it
where almost all important
national/local newspapers and
magazines are available. The students
are expected to maintain proper
discipline in the library. The college
book bank lends books to the needy and
poor students for the whole session.
SPORTS FACILITY
The
sports committee comprising students
and staff organize sports activities.
A member of the teaching staff heads
as chairman of sports committee. The
institution has extensive facilities
for games like volleyball, basketball
and separate facilities are provided
for indoor games such as, carom board,
table tennis, chess etc. Ample
opportunities are provided to students
for improving standards and talents in
games, sports and physique.
TRANSPORT FACILITY
A
fast and frequent public transport
service links the college with the
city. The management has provided two
buses, one is 52 seater deluxe coach
and the other is 40 seater Swaraj
Mazda for the college students which
run on different routes. Students
coming from the city and the
surroundings can hire the college bus.
AUDIO VISUAL ROOM
CANTEEN FACILITY
College
canteen is available within the
college premises.. The college canteen
caters to the needs of the students
and staff of the institutions at
subsidized rates. The students are
expected to maintain proper civic
sense, whenever they visit the
canteen.
GIRLS HOSTEL FACILITY
The
College Management has made available
hostel facilities for its students
hailing from far off places of Jammu
Division or from outside the state.
The College has separate hostel
facilities both for boys and girls.
The newly built girlshostel within the
college campus is spacious and
ventilated having T.V. lounge
reception, warden room, games room,
kitchen and very large mess with
numerous dining tables. Besides
providing security it caters to the
boarding and lodging needs ofour
female students. S.T.D facilities are
available in the building.
COMPUTER LABS
The
college is having well equipped
Computer Lab with latest hardware and
software facilities for all
candidates. The College has well
trained computer instructors.

Admission to B.Ed.
General Programme
The admissions to the B.Ed. General
programme are centralized and made by
the University of Jammu. The process
is strictly based on merit of the
applicant determined by the university
followed by counselling sessions taken
by the university authorities. The cut
off percentage for B.Ed. General
programme is 45% marks at the
graduation level. However, for the
students belonging to SC/ST/OBC
category the cut off percentage is
40%. Since the admissions to the B.Ed.
General programme is centrally
conducted by the University of Jammu,
the advertisement and the promotion
for admissions is also done by the
university authorities. As of now, the
University of Jammu through the
Director Colleges Development Council
(DCDC) gives wide publicity for
admissions to approved programmes
through:

in Local and National Newspapers.
Circulation
of Information Brochures to
