ASHOKA LAW COLLEGE is one of the constituent of Ashoka Educational Society & Research (Regd.), established last year to acheive Human Resourses Developent through widespread use of legal education & awareness at varied places like Jammu, Kathua & Lakhanpur.
Ashoka Law College aims at toproduce a cadre of law graduates in J&K & other adjoining states to take up the cause of Nation building. The college is affiliated to the University of Jammu & approved by bar Council of India.
The managment of the college endeavorus to creat suitable infrastructure leading towards excellence.
THE CAMPUS
ASHOKA LAW COLLEGE campus is located at Lakhanpur Kathua - a distance of merely 7 kms from Kathua town, known as the gate way of J&K state. Kathua district lies in the south east of the state, spread over an area of 2651 sq kms., constituting 1.9 % of the total area of the state. Ashoka Law College at present is housed in the spacious building covering over 8kanals of land. A seperate building of Law college is coming up in the nearby vicinity covering more than 20 kanals ofland in a calm & picturesque surroudings & eco friendly environment.
The college facilities combine stately architecture & state of the art resourses. The Law College has a stste of the art educational technology lab. Making it an idle place of learning of such serious subject of law enabling the graduates to occupy key responsible administration and legal positions. The campus includes a girl's hostel havind all he modern facilities of boarding & lodging & assuring secutity within the campus of the college. The college campus is about 7 km from Kathua Railway station and 05 km National Highway.
 Residential Accomodation - Girls Hostel :- A modern girl's hostel with a capacity to accomodate 100 girl students have been constructed within the campus to provide full security to the girls. The girls has more than 40 resedential rooms equipped with study table., storage almirah & electric gadgets to provide maxium comforts to make the hostel a home away fron home. Besides, a modern kitchen & a dining room has been provided within the hostel itself. Other facilities in the hostel includes availability of hat water, water coolers, STD/ISD, FAX & photostat facilities. There is a college canteen attached with the hostel to meet theie needs under one roof.
 The Law Library :- The college has accorded top priority in funding allocation to the establishment of a library to serve as a store house of knowledge. Housed in first floor, the library is equipped with the latest books on differene subjects listed in the syllabi. Besides, it subscribes to about two dozens Indian & foreign journals including some outstanding publications like American journal of International Law, xford journal of Legal studies. Besides the library has a reprographic & repackaging facilities and provide students the desired study materialon demand. The Library has the most efficient, well qualified staff always ready to meet the needs & aspirations of the students.
 Computer Lab :- The college has a computer lab. For data processing, interpretation, graphical representation etc. The computer lab has 10 pentium - 4 computers for imparting computer skills to students to make use of them for skill enhancement. The students are also given training in E-mail & internet usage.
 Moot Courts :-
1. To imbibe the "Mooting Culture" in all the students, the college has intoduced the concept of moot courts which involves the arguing of points of Law by students "Judges" usually comprised of members of the faculty & practicing advocates.
2. Mooting allows the students to practice the art of advocacy and the college lays emphasis on this activity to equip students for their future profession.
Placement cell & career services :- Recognizing the requirement of the corporate sector & law firms for well trained graduates of law, the placement cell has been created for the students of the college & the corporate & legal sectors. the placement cell promotes students interest providing the oppportunities to work with leading law firms, non-governmental organization & the corporate world.

The syllabi & courses of the study shall be as prescribed by the University of Jammu from time to time. The medium of instruction & examination shall be in english.
There shall be two examination in the academic year at the end of each semester respectively. The examination shall be open to :
A) Regular students who produces the foll. certificate signed by he Principal of the college or any other teacher authorized by him in this behalf.
1. of good character
2. of having completed the prescribed course of lectures during the semester.
B) A candidate who has completed the prescribed course of lectures in an semester but has been :
1. Either unable to appear in the examination
2. Unable to pass the examination in the paper /papers shall be eligible to appear in the examination within 3 semesters next foll. the semester in which he\ she was unsble to pas the examination. as the case may be.
No candidate shall be deemed to have completed the prescribed course unless he has attended 75%
or more of the lectures delivered during the semester preceding the examination.
Provides that any candidate, who participated in the nter-Department of inter-University sports, Tournaments, Games, sultural & other co-curricular activities as defined below, with the prior approval of the Principal of the Affiliated college, shall for the purpse of condoning deficiency in attendance incurred by him-her on account of such participated be treated as present on all the working days oh his/her absence on such account for a period not exceeding 15 days in a semester.
HOW TO APPLY
The candidates are required to apply for admission to the 1st semester of L.L.B. 5 yrs degree course on the prescribed application form appended here along with, attested photocopies of the relevant certificates/documents so as to reach the college on or before the date specified in the admission notice issued seperately.
